Tania Dalton's legacy honoured through new scholarship programme

On Monday, the foundation announced its first initiative by awarding scholarships to 11 athletes from challenging circumstances.

The husband of late Silver Ferns star Tania Dalton believes they have found the perfect way to honour her memory.

Dalton, who played 37 tests for the Silver Ferns, died last year after collapsing from a brain aneurysm and the Tania Dalton Foundation was subsequently created to continue her passion for supporting young women in sport.  

On Monday, the foundation announced its first initiative by awarding scholarships to 11 athletes from challenging circumstances.They come from a range of sports Dalton and her family had a strong bond with, including netball, tennis, touch rugby, surf lifesaving, basketball and rugby.
