Scholarship

UNLEASHING EPIC POTENTIAL THROUGH FINANCIAL SUPPORT, MENTORING AND PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT.

Our Scholarship Programme is the first initiative in the pipeline and is in honour of Tania’s legacy of supporting young women in sport. Tania was a firm believer in the values of sport and how it teaches us the power of resilience, to win and lose graciously, to put team before self.

The programme is supporting talented young sportswomen, from all kinds of circumstances and at different stages of their development who will benefit from the support the Foundation can provide.

Tania Dalton Foundation aims to award 12 scholarships each year. The Scholarships will support the recipients over a three-year period providing financial assistance, one-on-one mentoring support and personal development opportunities.

The ultimate goal of the programme is for these young women to then ‘pay it forward’ and contribute back to their communities and continue the legacy for future generations.

Tania would be bursting with pride.

The Challenge

Sport has always played a huge part in New Zealand society. However, for many families, the cost, practical considerations and access to support, coaches and role models can represent a significant barrier. For some families, the ongoing financial and practical support of their talented child’s sporting aspirations can be extremely challenging or in some cases just not possible.

Scholarship Criteria

The Scholarship Programme is initially focused on supporting young females who are very talented at their chosen sport and able to demonstrate a significant level of financial and/or circumstantial hardship to be eligible for a scholarship.

We are looking for young women who demonstrate leadership and role model qualities, are hardworking and committed to excellence and have a desire to better themselves in life and their sport. Most importantly, we are looking for the willingness to ‘pay it forward’.

Scholarship Selection

To help identify worthy potential recipients, Tania Dalton Foundation has partnered with the following sporting codes, all of whom Tania and her family have a strong connection with, to identity talented and deserving young sports women.

Basketball, Surf Life Saving, Netball, Tennis, Rugby, Touch Rugby, Hockey, Volleyball

Sharne Pupuke-Robati, FIBA U17 Basketball World Cup, 2018.
